Product description
My current work explores the use of Majolica techniques (Majolica) and forms abstracted from their domestic context.
An ancient technique thought to have originated in the middle east and brought over the Mediterranean to Spain.
Potters found that by using tin in their glaze it became white and opaque when fired. A rich and smooth final finish could be achieved even with the poorest of coloured clays. It also allowed the potters to use bright and vibrant colours in their surface decorations.
My pots use the same basic techniques but have been multi-fired including gold and silver lustres, and use a simple narrative.
