Photographic Cards
Photographer Sharon Scaturro creates highly individual flower portraits, and also found objects, often with unusual settings to enhance their natural qualities. Using natural light, no spotlights, she captures subtle shifts, a moment in time. The splendour and joys that nature provides are therapeutic to the soul. Her comprehensive series embracing tulips, roses, daffodils, and much more, highlights how even within darkness or struggle, beauty remains, but our ability to see it depends on our perspective.
Calder Valley Cynotypes created by local artist Rebekah Marrington are an unusual addition to the photographic cards collection in that they are produced without a camera!
The technique creates a Prussian blue image by exposing a light-sensitive coated paper to UV light (sunshine!)
Though not strictly photography it is known as a photogram. Botanical images are flora from her garden and gathered from local walks in Calderdale
