Product description
Tall standing forms, full round bowls and slender vases thrown on the wheel from porcelain - chosen for it's whiteness, smoothness and air of delicacy that belies an inherent fired strength. Work is inspired by trekking into the wilderness of N. W. Highlands, sketching geological formations and rock textures.
The effects of weathering and erosion are translated into ceramic processes and applied to the surface of pots, repeatedly applying layers of slip and scraping back to create worn textural surfaces. Attention focuses on creating delicately pulled edges on rims and sides of the pots.
