I am interested in the landscape as a mutable environment, variously affected by human and seasonal change and never a static, easily definable thing. Recently I have been exploring this by looking at the Long Causeway, which is the old packhorse route between Hebden Bridge and Burnley. Spanning Yorkshire and Lancashire, it is punctuated by archaeological and industrial evidence of human presence that is on the one hand intrusive, yet on the other quite beautiful.
