Product description
Screen printed cotton calico with hand embroidery
FdA in Textiles Practice at Bradford School of Art in 2026.
Liz is a textile artist based in York.
This work is part of a collection of textile pieces exploring the concept of power within the natural world, and the duality that arises within this one construct. Power is examined as a destructive force, and also a catalyst for regeneration, renewal and growth. A key focus of her continuing work is an interest in the capacity for ecosystems to recover following catastrophic events, revealing the strength and resilience that exists within nature.
Working with a variety of media and textiles, Liz employs rust dyeing, screen printing, fabric manipulation, embroidery and embellishment to investigate these themes. Layering and surface techniques are used to evoke both destruction and repair, reflecting the cycles of damage and renewal found in nature.
