Christchurch, New Zealand: in 2011 a catastrophic earthquake destroyed lives, homes, much of the city and severely impacted local waterways. Major land subsidence, infrastructure failures and environmental shifts led to years of active habitat restoration and cleaning efforts.

15 years later the Red Zone (too unstable for building on) has transitioned into a massive public green corridor and wetland regeneration project, returning the land to its historical state with extensive native tree planting and restored flood planes.

Last year I stayed in the city for 3 months, walking, drawing, reconnecting with familiar places, exploring and discovering the new.

These works grew from initial drawings, adding monoprinting, painting with acrylics and collage.
