Where Spirits Sleep: There's a feeling of sacred geometry about these panels fashioned by those who have gone before. Its once ordered structure slowly retaken by the apparent chaos of nature.

The moors, woodlands and valleys of the South Pennines are a continuous source of inspiration. Inhabited by many forms and objects with characters hewn from the harsh environment in which they exist. My work often examines our relationship with the landscape and the impact we have on these diverse habitats.

My art practice often begins with a walk inspired by the many forms I encounter. The creative process often involves a struggle to achieve my vision and understanding how my media interprets this process. A graphite foundation is laid from which the painting grows. Watercolour is my primary medium, adding colour, tone and nuances. At times free flowing at other times restraint when more control is needed. When I reach a position where watercolour alone cannot interpret that feeling of the elements at work, ink, gouache, drawing and other media are employed.
