Product description
In this work, I am trying to communicate two different ideas. Metamorphosis and effects of hybridity. This work is similar in appearance to an earlier work I did called ‘We Must Pay1’. It just featured a terrified scientist and the tiger/elephant hybrid. Whereas in this piece, I am also taking the concept further and introducing the idea of not only consequence but also what can happen when genetic tampering ends up evolving naturally. It is a symbol or metaphor represented here by the scientist changing from bird to human or indeed, human to bird. In a way, if genetically modified hybrid animals were left to live by themselves then of course it is reasonable to assume that such creatures would naturally evolve on their own. And so the bird changing into the scared scientist represents that very loosely
