"La Casserolé Emailleé"
2D & 3D
I saw a half-finished painting in a charity shop. Left it, thought about it, and went back the next day, and bought it. The composition, the colour, the background, the
line, the paint application, were wrong.....but..... could I 'use' it?
Someone had obviously loved the painting so much that they wanted to have it for
themselves.
Working on it, at first, I felt like a teacher marking an essay in red ink, not very nice!
Gradually I felt a sense of gratitude for the chance nature of a germ for an idea.
The reason I went back to buy it was to see if I could replicate the objects depicted
in the still life of 1945.
It took several months to complete, pre-Covid, the white jug proved most elusive.
When I'd finished setting my table still life I waited for early evening and lit the candle.
For a moment I felt like a fly on the wall in that Paris apartment 75years ago.
