Linda Brill - Stillness - Solo Exhibition
My paintings are an invitation to reflect on the still and the everyday.
It is my aim to capture the material qualities of the objects I depict, the differing textures, the play of light.
My work celebrates both the stillness and the life of things, organic or man-made, and is both meditative and contemplative.
There is beauty to be found in the everyday.
"Stillness takes on the contours of a bowl, a bottle, a pitcher..." Walter Helmut Fritz in his poem on Morandi
"The concentration of our gaze, the undistracted attention we are caused to pay, gives the pictures a concentrated stillness and an inexhaustible presence."
from Giorgio Morandi by Ernst-Gerhard Guse.
