Small Works Winter 21 - 22

‘Small Works’
21st October 2021–31st January 2022

Featuring works by Glynn Barnard, Linda Brill, Christine Clarke, Barry De More, Jacquie Denby, Linda Lovatt, Pete Marsh, Rob Miller, Robert Newton, Louise Oliver, Sara Philpott, Liz Salter, Malcolm Taylor, Dominic Vince, David Wiseman

An annual tradition at Water Street Gallery, the ‘Small Works’ exhibition is an intimate showcase of the gallery’s artists. Featuring contributions from more than 15 artists, the exhibition provides an overview of the many themes and varied genres on offer at the gallery, from sweeping landscapes to intricate still lifes and abstract works.

The exhibition includes new paintings by Linda Brill, Liz Salter and Dominic Vince, produced specifically for the show. For fans of the work of David Wiseman, there is a rare opportunity to acquire one of his early works, ‘Dusk’, which features a magical, celebratory rushing river, with the rampant brightly-coloured foliage so typical of his paintings.

The limited edition etching ‘Cafe Barca’ is a typically atmospheric work by Pete Marsh, which transports us to more relaxed times. Martin Hearne’s ‘Venus of St Ives’ is a departure from his usual Bradford scenes, enlivening the Cornish rooftops with a slumbering female figure.

The exhibition is an opportunity for new collectors to buy works from established artists in accessible formats, that would make a very special gift to mark the festive season.
