Vanessa Conyers Lustre

Crafted from earthenware paper clay, Vanessa Conyers boasts a stunning collection of fine ceramics that are the embodiment of pure luxury. Inspired by design and fashion from past and present, music, colours, and feelings, each ceramic piece is an exploration of surface and decoration that capture the soul and imagination of the creator themselves. The process begins with thin sheets of earthenware paper clay built free hand or over wooden moulds, occasionally imprinted with fabrics and materials to create intriguing textures. The clay is built and built until heavy with layers and gently hit until ready to collapse.

Slips, oxides, glazes and mores are applied before enamel decals are merged into each piece and then, because without luxury it would not be a Vanessa Conyers piece, swathes of mother of pearl and gorgeous precious metal lustres are applied, the traditional hallmarks of decadence. Sparkling and smooth, each eye-catching piece is unique and a showstopper in its own right, taking pride of place on any mantlepiece, shelf, or table.

Vanessa graduated from Bath Spa University in 2004 and set up her studio the year after, exhibiting throughout the UK and beyond.
