Wild Meadow

Ros Walker Wild Meadow

£480.00

Product description

I use several different techniques in my ceramic work, both wheel throwing, altering and handbuilding.

Local clay, which is a terracotta type lower firing clay, is dug, processed and has plant fibres incorporated to form a unique stronger and more versatile compound. These pieces are largely handbuilt due to the fibrous nature of the clay.

I also use porcelain paper clay to achieve eggshell thin fragile walls, and underglaze for colour. Some combustible natural seeds or grains are pressed into the clay which will burn out during firing to leave delicate holes.

Texture is achieved by pressing local plants into the wild clay or paper clay and using a variety of slips, underglazes and oxides after bisque firing to accentuate the imprints.
