Exhibitions

Our exhibitions programs cover many art forms and genres offering solo, group, open and themed exhibitions on a regular basis, enabling all to experience a wealth of talented artists and desirable art works.

While much of the Art World is now digitalised to a sophisticated degree, we offer that facility as well as being directly ‘on the coal face’.
Representation of both established and up and coming artists is a vital factor in sustaining and encouraging the whole future of fine art. We strongly feel that engaging in artistic experiences is an opportunity that should be open to anyone and everyone, so we welcome all, whether collectors, first time buyers, browsers, and the curious
Operating in two main galleries, supported by small mezzanine passage, and craft gallery and gift shop, always of a high standard. Within our collection, changing exhibitions and displays, there is plenty to admire, question and appreciate.Whether collector, art lover or browser we are experienced in finding the right art work for your particular needs.
Our Annual Open Exhibitions are ever popular, giving opportunities for new artists to exhibit, and new works to be seen, with recent successes being last years ‘The Darkness and the Light’ triggered some challenging works, as were ‘The Gardens of Earthly Delight’ - 2014 and ‘A Modern Bestiary’. 2021.
We rotate our gallery artists’s solo exhibitions throughout the year, with opportunities for seeing the different genres and styles such as Still Life, Landscape, Abstraction, Surreal, Collage, Sculpture, not forgetting Original Prints which are permanently available in browsers, alongside the exhibitions.

Our first solo show in 2011 ;Flowers… Plants and Other Stories’ by gallery owner Mike Holcroft in which he re-established his talents for visual observations, having set aside abstract leaning, to produce large scale oil paintings and drawings of flowers and plants.
Ian Taylor is also a longstanding gallery, whose solo show “Elastic’ (2012) is notorious for his wry sense of wit and insights into the art world, expressed mainly though assemblage .
2015 saw the first exhibition of a new discovery, Lucy Atherton, committing to memory chance encounters with character and creatures, intuitive, magical and timeless - ‘The Place Lives’
London based artist David Wiseman whose solo exhibition ‘The Water’s Edge’ exhibited large acrylic works, many inspired by the fast flowing rocky streams and brooks of the river Calder and tributaries, as they cascade through wooded ravines such as Gorpley clough.
‘Contemporary Still Life’ is an apt title for Linda Brill’s solo exhibition which was traditional in oil painting methods, remarkable in capturing the integrity of the objects themselves and contemplative in their stillness.
A long awaited exhibition by northern artist Margaret Shields ‘From Sea to Shore’ brought the wild excitement of stormy north seas and calm bays into this landlocked West Yorkshire. Masterful renderings of the natural elements together with observations of human happenings.
Todmorden based artist Barry Cook is sought after for his imagine figurative brightly coloured paintings with both thoughtful symbolism and deliberately humorous in his solo exhibition in 2019 titled ‘Journey to the Moon’.

Looking forward to this Autumn and 2024, gallery artists Martin Hearne, Rob Miller and Mike Holcroft are keenly anticipated exhibition.Adding a theme to our exhibition add and extra dimension and interest. A popular and somewhat controversial exhibition ‘Fake - Steal - Forge’ of 2020 include some Picasso and Hockney works! While sharing platform with The Northern Potters Association is a regular feature such as ‘Naked Raku’ - 2015 and ‘Earthworks’ - 2021.
