Decorated Hand built porcelain ceramics

2006-2009 BA (Hons) First Class, Design
Lives and works Leicester

Each piece of my work is a canvas for decoration and collage as I combine drawings with found, vintage ephemera. I am inspired by nostalgia, paper ephemera, vintage textiles and a love of drawing. I have always been fascinated by objects that have a history. Nostalgic themes that I constantly revisit in my work are afternoon tea, the seaside, gardening, and my love of traditional blue and white pottery.

Biography

The porcelain pieces I create are unique, one-offs produced using a variety of slip casting and hand-building techniques. All incorporate my own drawings with found nostalgic imagery by using both hand painting and transfers, and many have the added opulence of gold luster.

My collection uses elements from a different era alongside my own drawings, text and collage. I focus on pattern and detail using mixed media to collage and juxtapose the found and made. The pieces I create are unique, one-offs that explore a variety of nostalgic themes that I am always adding to. Currently my themes are; the notions of afternoon tea, ‘Oh I do like to be beside the seaside’, gardening and flowers, and traditional blue and white pottery.
