PRESS RELEASE - Nov 2012

Taking in the latest exhibition at Water Street Galley is heartwarming to the soul and the purse, a stunning show of quality and quantity, building on the growing reputation of this fine art gallery. “The success of last years Christmas ‘Small Works Show’ proved so popular that we are running with the theme again, but with an added twist ‘...just in case’”

Gallery owners Mike and Rosemary Holcroft set local artists the challenge of creating artworks inside a CD case “The response was marvellous.  To maintain integrity on a such a small scale is a big ask; but it worked”  Testament to this are some 300 works ‘Art in a Case’  visual walls of paintings, photography, prints, 3D and textile works set  alongside fine crafts and jewellery, of affordable, collectable and attractive art works.

Encouragement was also given to focus on Todmorden itself as a subject, the Town Hall, streets, canal and hustle an bustle of people and, yes, birds (feathered) are all featured to be seen and enjoyed.  “A further bonus to us was to include a group of A level graphic design students from Todmorden High School, many of whom are progressing to pursue a career in the arts, who are exhibiting works involved in an Incredible Edible project.” Well worth many visits the exhibition runs until 8th January, and they are now open 7 days a week.
