BILLY ADAMS

Billy Adams is an artist whose work deals with exploring, experimenting and pushing the boundaries of working in clay within the vessel format. A sense of cultural identity underpins his work, speaking of Irish roots and his links with both monumental landscape and more human features. From these timeless starting points he brings uncompromising expressive qualities to works which generate their own offspring.

Gravity defying, twisting forms whose rugged surface suggests the process of petrification are matched with rims, handles and lips as an integral part of the creative process, taking the work beyond utilitarian counterparts. Hand built using 3 types of clay with soft dry glazes in ochres, olive green and purples contrasting with   silky gold or bronzed lustres.

Since gaining his MA in 1989 in Ceramics at Glamorgan he has remained living and working in Wales, exhibiting throughout the UK, and has work in many Ceramic Collections. More . . .
